Targeted Emails May Increase Vaccinations in Health Care Personnel — JAMA Network Open

Geisinger Health, a large 10-hospital health care system in central Pennsylvania, found that sending individually addressed emails to unvaccinated health care personnel more than doubled the number who registered for a COVID-19 vaccine. The targeted emails — sent to 6,482 employees — used behaviorally informed messages to try to increase vaccination registration. Thirty-six vaccine-related mass emails had been sent previously. “Sending targeted emails, patient portal messages, or text messages designed with behavioral science is inexpensive, scalable, and easily implemented and could be an effective way to encourage vaccination by HCWs and the general public,” the authors of the Research Letter write.
